ISLAMABAD – Muhammad Ali Randhawa has been replaced in a major administrative shake-up, as the federal government appointed Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf as his successor for the key role in federal capital.
A notification issued said “Ch. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a BS-20 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Islamabad, under Interior and Narcotics Control Division, is transferred and directed to report to Establishment Division, with immediate effect and until further orders.”
Another notification confirmed appointment of Lt. (Retd) Sohail Ashraf, a seasoned Grade-20 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS). Ashraf previously served as Secretary Communications and Works in the Punjab government and has held key positions as Deputy Commissioner in Faisalabad and Mandi Bahauddin.
He is also expected to take over as the new Chairman of the CDA, consolidating authority over Islamabad’s urban development. This appointment marks a critical restructuring in the federal capital’s administration, with the Chief Commissioner playing a central role in guiding the city’s governance and development strategy.
Meanwhile, Saad Akhtar takes charge as Commandant of the National Police Academy. Muhammad Idrees Ahmed has been transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency and Shahjahan has been moved to Sindh amid major administrative reshuffles across federal and provincial levels.
