The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered authorities to produce PTI chairman’s nephew Hassaan Khan Niazi before court by August 18 (Friday).

Justice Sultan Tanveer of Lahore High Court issued the written order on a petition filed by Hassaan Niazi’s father Hafeezullah Niazi for recovery of his son.

IG Punjab police and others have been made parties in the petition. In a written order by the LHC, the court said parties should submit a report on the next hearing regarding recovery of Niazi.

“If Niazi is in the custody of any party, he should be produced in the court on August 18,” said the court order.

The name of Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, has been included in the A-Plus category of accused. Police sources said the accused, involved in the May 9 incident, had been named in A-Plus and A categories. A Lahore police team will depart for Quetta next week to take custody of Hassaan Niazi.

After fulfilling the legal requirements, DIG Investigation Imran Kishwar will also be part of the team to bring Niazi. Niazi has been handed over by the Abbottabad police to the Quetta police.

The Home Department has written a letter to transfer Niazi to Lahore.
