Lahore High Court (LHC) Judge Justice Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar has snubbed DIG Operations Afzal Kausar and Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) SP Shams Durrani over the illegal confinement of citizens.

While hearing a plea against the illegal detention of three citizens, Justice Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar said that Lahore police are deeply engaged in bullying citizens and everyone seems to be afraid of them.

The judge warned the police officials that the court can snatch your designations by written order. Justice Muhammad Sarfraz said that CIA SP is not a good police officer and is also not eligible for the job. He said that such people will not be allowed to be in the police force. The DIG Operations tendered an unconditional apology to the court. The court directed DIG Operations to take strict action against police officials involved in the abuse of power and submit a report in the next hearing.

Justice Muhammad Sarfraz gave these remarks while hearing a plea filed by a citizen named Nasarullah. The citizen stated in his plea that police picked up his two sons named Asad and Ali Raza and beat them by stripping off their clothes in front of the family.—NNI
