The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 91 illegal commercial buildings and the premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in the LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s various housing schemes on Wednesday.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 20 buildings in the Township, 25 on Canal Bank Road, 21 in Gulberg and Model Town Extension, 15 in Nespak Society, and 10 in Mustafa Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.

The sealed premises include Lahore Grammar School (LGS), Step School, Dar-e-Arqam School, The Educators, The Grace School, Dublin School, Concordia College & Stars Academy, The Spirit School, Supreme Pharmacy, Al Turab Sweets, private clinic, marriage halls & marquees, grocery stores, restaurants, cafes, beauty salons, offices, and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations. LDA’s enforcement and security teams carried out these operations with the assistance of the Police.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before carrying out these operations.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against bylaws violations, encroachments, illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and Lahore’s housing schemes.
