ISLAMABAD – The government of Pakistan officially announced its decision to join newly formed “Board of Peace” for Gaza, responding directly to personal invitation from US President Donald Trump.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad confirmed that Pakistan accepted invitation and will participate in initiative, which is part of second phase of Trump’s controversial 20-point Gaza peace plan.
According to Foreign Office statement, Pakistan’s decision is aligned with UN Security Council Resolution 2803, and reflects Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to support the implementation of Gaza peace plan.
President Trump personally invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to join proposed Board of Peace. Islamabad later confirmed that the invitation had been received and that Pakistan was reviewing the offer.
“Board of Peace” is part of the second phase of Trump’s 20-point plan, launched to restore peace in Gaza two years after devastating Israeli bombardment. The initiative aims to rebuild the region and ensure stability after years of conflict.
In its official statement, Pakistan said it expects the Board of Peace to produce a permanent ceasefire, a dramatic increase in humanitarian aid, real reconstruction of Gaza.
Pakistan emphasized that the peace process must ensure Palestinian self-determination, be credible and time-bound, follow international law and UN resolutions, result in an independent Palestinian state, be based on pre-1967 borders.
Foreign Office declared that Pakistan, as member of the Board of Peace, is ready to play a constructive role in ending the suffering of Palestinians and achieving peace.
