LGH upgraded as state-of-the-art institution

Principal PGMI/AMC, Prof. Dr. Sardar Muhammad Al-freed Zafar has said that under the instructions of the Government of the Punjab, the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has been upgraded to the state-of-the-art institution where patient-friendly environment has been provided in the Emergency Department.

Moreover immediate diagnostic facilities are being provided free of cost and the trust of the citizens is increasing day by day with the best medical services.

Talking to media here on Monday, he informed that in 2007, the Emergency Department of LGH was established with 110 beds but the administration has taken steps to extend up to 220 beds in different departments so that the citizens coming from other areas including Lahore can get quality and timely treatment in Emergency Ward.

In order to ensure quality healthcare, training courses are being conducted regularly in LGH to enhance the professionalism of doctors, nurses and paramedics and for this purpose all the departments of the hospital are taking necessary steps, he added.

Prof. Al-freed said that most of the patients in the Accident Department are in critical condition and saving their lives should be the first priority of the doctors for which all resources should be utilized.

He said that a Triage Department has also been set up in the Emergency of General Hospital so that there would be no delay in the treatment of the patients in view of the severity of their illness.

Principal PGMI said that the number of doctors, nurses and paramedics in the three shifts has also been increased as per the required demand.

Principal PGMI also appealed to the attendants of the patients not to keep their patient’s history hidden from the doctor but to inform them in this regard as early much as possible so that the treatment of the patient could be started immediately.

He told that all the record of the patients have been computerized of every department of this hospital.

He said that on the direction of Provincial Health Minister Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, a mechanism has been set up to provide all possible medical facilities to the patients.

He further said that the incumbent government has provided ample funds for the provision of free medicines and operation equipment to the patients so that the distressed patient would not face any difficulty.

He said that the monitoring process of all the departments was underway and all possible encouragement would be given to the best performers.

Prof. Al-freed Zafar said that due to availability of senior doctors in LGH, installation of modern medical equipment and excellent care the number of patients is increasing day by day.

People from other provinces including the provincial capital also prefer General Hospital for treatment which is a testament to the confidence of the citizens in this institution, he concluded.
