Provincial Information & Culture Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal has said, ‘we are removing the reservations being raised against local government bill and will hold local bodies elections soon’. When new local government system will be implemented then 33 percent funds of Punjab government will be spent through local governments.
The Minister said that the previous government had seized the powers of local bodies institutions and turned them ineffective. We will empower the local bodies institutions. Local government system is the source of resolving problems of people at their doorsteps and PTI government will fully empower the local government institutions.
Provincial Minister expressed these views after reviewing development projects at Dholanwal and later while talking with the media representatives here on Tuesday. Provincial Minister also held an open court and listened to problems of the people. He also issued orders on the spot for the resolution of some problems.
Mian Aslam Iqbal expressed his displeasure over the absence of Deputy Commissioner and officials of town administration and said that government officers will have to come out of their offices and contact the people for resolving their problems. Action will be taken against such officers who will show negligence in the performance of their official duties. It is the responsibility of the department to provide even better facilities to the general public and now they will have to deliver.
Provincial Minister while issuing directives to the officers present on this occasion said that whatsoever development problems have come to surface with regard to today’s visit should be resolved immediately. I will personally supervise and monitor development works. It is the first and foremost priority of PTI government to resolve problems of the masses and ensure provision of facilities to them. Each and every single penny of resources will be spent in a transparent manner. Time for liberation of Kashmir is coming near. Pakistani nation is standing side by side with their Kashmiri brothers in their struggle for achieving their right of self-determination.
Later, Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting at Civil Secretariat in which matters regarding provision of electricity, gas and other infrastructure in Sundar Industrial Estate and other industrial estates of the province came under review.
