A delegation of lawyers on Monday visited the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) and expressed regret over the tragic clash between lawyers and doctors at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore.
The lawyers’ delegation admitted that the dispute with doctors should have been resolved peacefully through talks. “Not everyone who wears black coat is a lawyer,” they stated.
The NICVD emergency department head said they have always supported the lawyers’ community, and the hospital has been providing services for every segment of the society.
Similarly, the lawyers are boycotting court hearings, creating difficulties for litigants, whereas the strike by medical practitioners in several health facilities has created difficulties for the patients.
On the other hand, Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat on Monday informed Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman about the investigation of the PIC rampage.
Sources told the media that Mr Basharat, who is heading an inquiry committee to find out the culprits responsible for the violent clash, will present a report on administration’s negligence to Mr Buzdar
During the meeting, the CM directed the law minister to probe the incident in accordance with judicial and legal affairs.
Earlier, Raja Basharat had expressed resentment over police officers for being unprepared in resisting lawyers from disturbing law and order situation in the metropolis.
He reprimanded the participants over inappropriate management in high-level sessions chaired by Punjab CM.
The inquiry committee will also identify the roles of lawyers, doctors and police in the violent clash. The findings by the inquiry committee in a form of a report will be made a part of measures which will be devised and implemented to prevent occurrence of such incidents in the future.
