ISLAMABAD – Pakistanis are facing massive backlog on passports as gap between demand and supply badly affected the procss, but the recent addition of modern printers pushed the numbers to double.

Amid the delay, DG Immigration and Passports shared over forty thousand passports are being processed on single day basis, which is double as compared to previous number. This increase in output comes after the successful installation of 10 new state-of-the-art passport printers, which has effectively doubled the department’s productivity.

The addition of new printing technology is in full capacity to improve service delivery, and upgraded capacity is expected to streamline the process and reduce waiting times for passport applicants.

Amid widespread rumors, officials also cleared air about that passport offices in Islamabad are operating 24 hours a day. The spokesperson clarified that there are no plans to extend office hours to a 24-hour schedule at this time, and that DGIP is reviewing several proposals to potentially offer round-the-clock services in the future.

The ongoing improvements aim to provide better services to overseas Pakistanis and strengthen global travel standing. Besides increasing printing capacity, officials also introduced e-passports featuring advanced security features, further enhancing the safety and ease of international travel for its citizens.
