The sharp increase came just a day after gold prices had moved in the opposite direction. On Wednesday, the price of gold per tola had declined by Rs3,700, settling at Rs458,236.

The upward trend in Pakistan was largely in line with developments in the global market, where gold gained $137 per ounce to reach $4,495. The international rate included a $20 premium.

Meanwhile, silver prices also posted notable gains in the domestic market. The price of silver increased by Rs369 per tola, reaching Rs7,169.

The latest surge highlights the continued volatility in precious metal markets, with domestic prices closely tracking movements in international gold rates.

Gold Trends in Pakistan

Gold prices in Pakistan witnessed upward trend during the 20 days of August 2026. The price of 24K gold per tola rose from the low-to-mid Rs 420,000–440,000 range at the start of the month to more than Rs 460,000 in several market reports by August 20. This shows overall increase of approximately 8% or more, although exact figures varied between sources and trading locations.

Gold market’s surge was not uniform as bullion gained steadily during first half of August, briefly stabilized around Rs 453,000–456,000 per tola in the middle of the month, and then strengthened again toward August 20. Similar movements were observed in the per-gram price of 24K gold.

The increase was influenced by several factors, particularly international gold prices, fluctuations in the Pakistani rupee, domestic demand, and local market premiums. Overall, the period reflected strong bullish sentiment in Pakistan’s gold market, with prices remaining elevated and volatile toward the end of the period.
