Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has taken immediate action following Chinese investors’ decision to approach the Sindh High Court regarding security concerns. Lanjar has instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh to appoint a senior inquiry officer for a thorough investigation into the matter.
The move aims to further strengthen the trust that Chinese investors place in the Sindh government and Sindh Police. The Minister emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese nationals, particularly those involved in both CPEC and non-CPEC projects. He underscored that foolproof security should be a top priority and a joint responsibility of the Sindh government, Sindh Police, and local sponsors or hosts.
Lanjar stressed that it is vital for the provincial authorities to follow the established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee the safety of Chinese nationals.
“The goal is to ensure all actions are executed properly, addressing any security gaps or deficiencies in the system,” he said. Furthermore, the Minister called for better communication between sponsors and the Special Protection Unit (SPU), emphasizing regular monitoring and immediate corrective actions. If security-related complaints are raised by Chinese nationals, he urged senior officers to review and resolve issues promptly.
