Lahore, Punjab weather update; more rains of varying intensities likely

LAHORE – More rainfall of varying intensities and gusty winds are likely in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Friday evening/night, Saturday and Sunday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea penetrate the upper/central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave affects the upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, more torrential rains are expected at scattered places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Khanpur, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Kot Addu on Friday evening/night and during the weekend. Heavy falls may also occur at isolated places during the period.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 36-38°C on Saturday and 35-37°C on Sunday.

Meanwhile, rainfall of varying intensities occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C.

In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 40°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 78 per cent.
