Lahore, Punjab weather update; light rain predicted

LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted the prevailing cold wave and foggy conditions to persist in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during the weekend.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.

A shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country on Saturday.

Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Lahore and most districts of Punjab on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.

Rain with snowfall over mountains is expected in Murree, Galliyat and surroundings.

Light rain is also likely in Pothohar region.

Fog update for Punjab

Dense fog/smog will likely persist in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangla, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surroundings.

Day temperatures are likely to remain below normal in most districts of the province due to dense fog.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 04-06 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, cold wave and foggy weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

However, light rain/drizzle occurred in Mangla and Jhelum.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped to the freezing point.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 04 C.

Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.

Dense fog/smog prevailed over plain areas of Punjab which disrupted road, rail and air traffic.
