Lahore, Punjab weather; significant rains expected from January 02

LAHORE – Significant rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab from January 02, 2025.

As per the Pakistan Meteorological department (PMD), a frontal weather system will likely enter western parts of Pakistan on Wednesday. It will likely prevail in upper parts till January 06, 2025.

Under these weather conditions, intermittent rains and gusty winds with snowfall are expected in Murree, Galliyat and surroundings from January 01 to January 06, 2025.

Significant rains and gusty winds are expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Jahng Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Hafizabad, Narowal, and Toba Tek Singh from January 02 (evening/night) to January 06, 2025.

Snowfall may cause road closure/slippery conditions in Murree, Galliyat, and surroundings. Landslides/avalanche are likely in Murree and Galliyat. Tourists are advised to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travelling.

Rains are beneficial for the standing crops in Barani areas of Punjab. Cold waves will likely grip most parts of Punjab after the wet spell. After the rains, dense fog will likely grip Lahore and plains of Punjab.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will remain between 06-08°C on Wednesday and Thursday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of Punjab and extremely cold in Murree, Galliyat and upper districts during the last 24 hours. Moderate to dense smog/fog prevailed in Lahore and plains of Punjab.

Murree remained the coldest place in Punjab where the temperature dropped 01°C below the freezing point. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 43 percent.

In Lahore, minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 73 percent.
