Lahore, Punjab weather: Rains, isolated hailstorms predicted

LAHORE – Intermittent rains and windstorms with isolated hailstorms are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Sunday night and Monday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moist currents penetrate the central and southern parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over the upper/central parts and is likely to persist during the next two days.

Under these conditions, intermittent rains and windstorms are predicted at isolated places in Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday night and Monday.

Isolated hailstorms may also occur during the period. Rains, hailstorms and gusty winds may damage loose structures like trees, vehicles and solar panels.

Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38°C and 40°C on Monday and between 37°C and 39°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, rain occurred in isolated places.

Bhakkar and Jhelum remained the hottest places in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. The maximum temperature in Joharabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Mangla was recorded at 45°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 35 per cent.
