Lahore, Punjab Weather: Rainfall of varying intensities expected

Rainfall of varying intensities is expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday and Thursday with occasional gaps.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over the western and upper parts of Pakistan. It will likely strengthen tonight and persist in the upper parts till January 01.

Under these conditions, cold and Cloudy weather is expected in the upper districts with rains in Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali, Layyah, Bhakkar and Khushab on Tuesday night. Light rain and light snowfall may also occur in Murree and Galiyat.

Moderate to dense fog (in patches) may develop over Gujranwala, Gujarat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Jhang, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Kasur, Khanewal, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

On Wednesday and Thursday, rain is expected in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Gujrat, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Khushab, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Noorpur, Faisalabad, Sargodha and Layyah. Rain and snowfall are also likely in Murree and Galiyat. Light rain is likely at isolated places in Jhang, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Shorkot, Multan, Kot Addu, Bahawalnagar, Okara, Kasur, Khanewal, Khanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

Lahore’s minimum temperature will likely remain between 06°C and 08°C on Wednesday and Thursday, and between 05°C and 07°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed in most districts of the province during the last 24 hours. Moderate to dense fog prevailed in the plains.

Murree remained the coldest place in the province, where the temperature dropped to 03°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 07°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 66 per cent.
