LAHORE – More intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are likely in Lahore and parts of Pakistan on Sunday night and the next two days.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal penetrate most parts of Pakistan, which will strengthen within the next 24 hours. A westerly wave also affects most central/southern parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, more intermittent monsoon rains and windstorms with isolated heavy falls are likely in Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Chiniot, Okara, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar and Dera Ghazi Khan on Sunday night and the next two days.
From July 6 to July 8, heavy rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan and northeast Punjab. Downpour may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha and Faisalabad.
Lahore’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Monday, between 31°C and 33°C on Tuesday, and between 30°C and 32°C on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls occurred in Lahore and parts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in Punjab, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. The maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 40°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 96 per cent.
