LAHORE – Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Athar Waheed on Thursday vowed to ensure smooth traffic during Muharram processions in the provincial capital.
The CTO also issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the Muharram processions scheduled to take place on Sagar Road in the Cantonment area of the provincial capital. He also issued traffic diversion and management plans for the other parts of the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Dr. Athar Waheed said that a detailed deployment plan has been implemented under the supervision of the Divisional SP. The plan includes the deployment of 2 DSPs, 4 Inspectors, and 74 traffic wardens.
The ‘Alam’ procession will begin from Imambargah Khorasan, Mohalla Agha and would conclude at Katri Mian Ghulam Rasool after passing through its designated route, the CTO said.
Traffic from Saddar Gol Chowk towards Cantt Kachehri would be diverted on both sides. Similarly, traffic will be diverted in both directions from MP Naka Sarwar Road to Saddar Bazaar and Delhi Road.
The diversions will also be placed from Islamia School U-turn to CMH Hospital and from Islamia School U-turn to HBL U-turn. Additionally, traffic coming from Kasuri U-turn to Loona Mandi will also be diverted.
The CTO added that, if necessary, traffic may be diverted from Dharampura Y-Crossing towards Saddar Gol Chowk, keeping in view the prevailing security conditions.
The residents will be kept informed about road closures and re-openings in real time.
“Citizens are being updated moment to moment through the Rasta App, Rasta FM and social media platforms,” said CTO Lahore.
The citizens are advised to contact the traffic helpline at 15 for further guidance and assistance regarding the traffic issues.
