The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) has witnessed a substantial surge in revenue with the inauguration of a cutting-edge Hydrants Management Center (HMC), under the leadership of CEO Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed. ElahiBakhsh Bhutto, the Incharge of the Hydrant Cell at KW&SC, emphasized a remarkable 68% increase in revenue. He stated that from July 2022 to May 2023, the total revenue from the corporation’s official hydrants amounted to Rs997.7 million.
This figure soared to Rs1.66 billion from July 2023 to May 2024, marking the highest revenue in the history of the Hydrants Cell.
Furthermore, Bhutto reported that between July 2022 and June 2023, the KW&SC’s hydrants delivered 256,527 water tanker orders, totaling 302 million gallons of water. However, following the establishment of the Hydrants Management Center, there was a notable increase in water distribution. From July 2023 to June 2024, the corporation delivered 376,520 water tanker orders, amounting to 486 million gallons, reflecting a 68% rise in tanker orders and a 62% increase in water supplied.
Bhutto explained that all official hydrants of the KW&SC are now monitored by the internationally recognized Hydrants Management Center. The CEO of KW&SC, Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, has been acknowledged for revolutionizing the hydrants system by fully digitalizing it, ensuring fair water distribution across the city. This digital system has garnered international recognition. Ahmed’s efforts have facilitated the provision of easily accessible, chlorinated, and clean water tankers to the citizens, a primary objective of the Hydrants Management Center.
The transformation is anticipated to enhance the efficiency and transparency of water distribution, ensuring that the residents of Karachi have reliable access to clean water.
