The Chief Operating Officer KW&SC, Engineer Asadullah Khan, visited Al-Hilal Society to inspect the ongoing work of replacing water valves in the city’s supply lines. Accompanied by Chief Engineer WTM Zafar Palejo, Syed Ijaz Ahmed, Tanveer Sheikh, and Rizwan Ahsan, Asadullah Khan highlighted that, under the special directive of Karachi’s Mayor Barrister MurtazaWahab, 60-inch diameter valves are being replaced in both the 66-inch Old City Trunk Main and the 60-inch Cast Iron System water lines. Asadullah Khan pointed out that the new valve control system would greatly enhance water distribution across the city, ensuring better management and reduction of leakages.

The old valves, originally installed in 1954, are now being replaced. Previously, fixing leakages required shutting down the entire water supply from Dhabeji Pumping Station, leading to citywide water interruptions. However, with the new control system, there will no longer be a need to halt the water supply to the entire city for repairs.

He further explained that this upgrade would ensure equal water distribution to several areas, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Jamshed Town, Chanesar Town, Lyari Town, Kemari Town, Liaquatabad Town, and Nazimabad Town.
