On the directives of the Mayor Barrister MurtazaWahab and CEO of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC), Engineer Syed Salahuddin Ahmed, officials have successfully addressed numerous drainage complaints across various city areas.
According to a spokesperson for the KW&SC, officials have tackled sewerage overflow issues by installing concrete slabs and covers over open manholes and performing maintenance on different lines in several neighborhoods.
Areas including Malir, Landhi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Lyari, Nazimabad, Model Colony, Model Zone, Shah Faisal, Liaquatabad, Jamshed Town, Gadap, Surjani, and Manghopir have seen significant improvements.
Additionally, recent heavy rains have caused the main sewerage lines to sink in several areas. Chief Engineer of Sewerage, AftabAlamChandio, reported that major lines in D-12 Block I North Nazimabad (24 inches), Sakhi Hassan North Nazimabad (24 inches), Nazimabad Underpass (36 inches), Liaquatabad Town (48 inches), Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 14 (15 inches), and Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 19 (36 inches) have been affected. Repairs on these sunken sewerage lines are set to commence from Wednesday.
