Kuwait and Pakistan are enjoying traditional bond of friendship based on common religious, historical and cultural values and the Pakistani people and the leadership have deep regard for their Kuwaiti brothers and sisters and the leadership of this important Gulf country.

Ambassador of Kuwait said his country has condemned the Israeli aggression on Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and renewed calls for an immediate ceasefire. The leadership, people, national assembly and government of the State of Kuwait strongly denounce the attacks on Palestinian people by the Israeli forces and call for immediate halt to this aggression, he said. Mr Faisal Malik also expressed his condolences on the passing away of the late Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah last month and paid him rich tributes for his services to the people of Kuwait, the Arab world and the Ummah.

Ambassador Nassar while welcoming Mr Faisal Malik termed Pakistan an important partner and long-time ally. He particularly mentioned the role and contributions of the Pakistani community—doctors, engineers, teachers, IT experts, etc—to Kuwait’s economy and infrastructure. Besides, a large number of the workforce from Pakistan is doing a wonderful job in Kuwait, said the ambassador adding they are not only making a good earning, they are also sending huge remittances back home in Pakistan for the collective good of their families as well as the country.

It may be mentioned here that more than 100,000 Pakistani workforce is currently performing their duties in Kuwait with utmost devotion and dedication and according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) between January and November 2022 alone, over 54 percent of remittances came from the Gulf region with major contributions coming from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and Kuwait.

Pakistan received $14.99 billion in remittances from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members states during the outgoing year, with the overall remittance inflow recorded at $27.48 billion. The ambassador also commended the role of Pakistan Observer in promoting and strengthening the bond of friendship between Pakistan and the Arab world. This is a prestigious legacy that you have inherited from your father and a great champion of the Unity of Ummah, late Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Pakistan Observer Mr Zahid Malik, he said.

Pakistan imports refined petroleum products from Kuwait while it exports textile, food items to Kuwait making the bond stronger. In the days to come trade and bilateral ties will improve between the two countries, he hoped.
