Kuwait’s ruling monarch, Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah, has passed away at the age of 86, the Middle Eastern country announced Saturday.
A statement aired on Kuwaiti state TV said “His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, has passed away”. The announcement was made after verses of the Holy Qur’an were aired.
In November this year, the octogenarian monarch was admitted to hospital due to an emergency health issue. He even travelled to the US for medical checks in 2021.
His deteriorating health remains a matter of concern in recent times as internal power struggles are underway in Kuwait.
Following the death of Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Saba, several countries head condoled his demise.
Sheikh Nawaf came to power after the death of his half-brother, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 91.
This is a developing story, and will be updated later…
