Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi the vice chancellor of the University of Karachi expressed that our students and teachers were benefited from the online teaching as the campus like the whole country was closed in the recent past due to the lockdown imposed to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He mentioned that the whole education system of the country utilized the online teaching facility which is very common in the west for the past many years.

He said that both students and teachers had faced some problems in the early stage but quickly overcome those problems due to which the learning process did not affect by the Covid-19.

The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi shared that the distance education system is one of the best sources to access education for people from all walks of life.

He was addressing the certificate distribution ceremony held for the first batch of distance education at the Arts Auditorium.

Meanwhile, the KU Registrar Dr Abdul Waheed, who is also the Director of the Directorate of Distance Education, said that although it was a new experience for the students of the first batch, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the teachers and the willingness of students, we were able to achieve our goals.

He said that due to a large number of students in the second batch we had to create different sections of the class and now we have decided to introduce 20 new subjects while offering the third batch which will be announced in near future.

On this occasion, the students requested the KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi to also initiate M.Phil program through the distance education system for the students who could not enroll as full-time students for the course, to which KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi said that to implement this proposal, it would be presented for consideration on the relevant platform.
