TARIQ SAEED PESHAWA R As seven more deaths were reported from KP and many as 39 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus have been reported from the province during the last 24 hours, the KP government Tuesday warned the COVID-19 threat was increasing with each passing day. While the provincial metropolis Peshawar continued to reporting more cases compared to other parts of the province, two nurses working at the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday. After addition of new cases and deaths the toll of infected persons has mounted to 1,276 with 74 people succumbing to the deadly virus till date. According to KP Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra, the most affected areas are Peshawar and Malakand divisions, as 33 of Monday’s 39 new cases were reported from these two parts of the province. The total death toll in KP stands at 74. Sindh has reported 61 deaths, Balochistan six, GilgitBaltistan three, Punjab 45 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported three deaths. The KP authorities have revealed that at least 10 patients in KP have been diagnosed with coronavirus after their death. “KP has tested suspected patients of COVID19 after they passed away to confirm their diagnosis. At least 10 deaths in the province have been confirmed through this,” tweeted Zain Raza, KP focal person on coronavirus. Coronavirus is spreading very rapidly in KP, particularly in capital Peshawar. The diagnosis of coronavirus among patients after death is an alarming sign for the health authorities as they may have infected many others before reaching hospitals. Two nurses working at the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday. The Nursing Association claimed that despite showing symptoms of the virus, the complex refused to quarantine them. On the other hand the adviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information Ajmal Wazir has expressed his concerns regarding coronavirus saying that the threat is increasing with each passing day. While briefing media in Peshawar, Ajmal Wazir Khan said that relaxation in the lockdown given by the government does not mean a freefor-all, everyone must take precautionary measures. Otherwise, the virus cannot be defeated. Ajmal Wazir said that the risk of the virus is increasing with more cases coming from Peshawar. He urged the public to take precautions as just one person can spread the virus to their homes, neighborhoods and entire areas, therefore, people should remain isolated inside their homes.
