KP reassures employees on salary payment

In an attempt to end the uncertainty surrounding the provincial government’s ability to pay its employees on time, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Finance Department has directed the accountant general and all district account officers to pay the salaries and pension of all public sector employees on first of each month.

In a circular, the department directed them to prepare the pay bill till the end of each month and release the salaries and pension on the first.

Officials said that the circular is meant to end confusion and rumours about the timely payment of salaries and pension to the employees.

There are widespread reports that the central government has stopped the release of funds of the K-P government as a result the provincial government is unable to pay its employees on time. The rumours were further strengthened due to the delays in salaries last month in the province.—INP
