KP govt taking steps for promotion of handicrafts sector: SACM

Special Assistant to KP CM on Industries & Commerce Abdul Karim Khan said that the provincial government was taking urgent steps for promotion of the handicrafts sector of the province.

He was talking to a delegation of the Handicraft Association here in the Board of Investment and Trade (BoIT) on Tuesday. Besides, Vice Chairman, BoIT) Said Mahmood and Project Director, Munir Gul, the representatives of SMEDA, Tourism, TDAP, Bank of Khyber and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KP-EZDMC) and a large number of women entrepreneurs also attended the meeting.

The special assistant said that domestic workers, especially women, would be imparted training to promote their businesses. He further said that the handicraft sector of the province has huge potential to earn foreign exchange for the country.

Briefing the special assistant, Chairperson KP Handicraft Association Maryyam said that the organization had been working since 15 years and over 1000 women are registered and imparted various kinds of training.

Furthermore, she said that expos were also organized to publicize and market their products. The association, she said, arrange machinery and other instruments for rural women through donors.

The Special Assistant Abdul Karim Khan urged the association to come forward and start their business and also assured all kinds of cooperation to them.

He on this occasion also directed the concerned agencies to resolve their problems relating to their skill and hurdles in publicizing their products on priority basis.—APP
