PESHAWAR A state helicopter of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government came under fire in Kurram, both all passengers remained unharmed in gun-attack.

Several members were part of delegation which was onboard of the chopper. The development comes amid efforts to address ongoing sectarian violence in region, which claimed the lives of dozens of people.

Several government members including Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also planned to visit Parachinar to offer condolences but reportedly postponed his trip.

The violence in Kurram escalated this week as attackers set fire to Bagan Bazaar and surrounding homes, destroying more than 300 shops and 100 houses. The situation deteriorated as gunfire continued throughout the night, with heavy weapons exchanged across several locations in Upper and Lower Kurram.

This escalation follows an attack on a convoy of travelers on November 21, which left 43 people dead, including seven women and three children. Since then, the conflict has resulted in 30 deaths and more than 100 injuries. Locals have fled their homes amid the growing violence.

The region is facing severe hardships, as the main road connecting Parachinar to other districts has been closed since October 12, causing shortages of food and essential supplies.
