With the Covid-19 gaining alarming position in the province and positivity rate reaching more than eight per cent in educational institutions, the KP government is mulling to go for early and extended winter vacations and recommend the same in the next NCOC meeting scheduled for November 23. In fact the authorities in KP have urged the government to approve early and extended winter vacation for students.
Officials in the education department said that given the growing Covid-19 incidence in schools, the KP government was weighing options to recommend to the National Command and Operation Centre the extended winter vacation to stem the spread of the virus. “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to convey its concerns about the rising Covid-19 positivity rate in schools to the NCOC in the next meeting and recommend early and extended winter vacation in central districts, where the holidays will start on Dec 20”. An official said.
He said the issues were being discussed at the provincial level to take measures to contain the Virus failing which the schools would become a major source of infection to the general population.
It may be mention that despite strict directives from the administration for the masses to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) epically wearing masks, hardly 10% people are adopting the precautionary measures while rest are paying no heed to the government appeal.
