The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisory Council comprises 11 members with backgrounds in civil service, finance, law, education, healthcare, business and politics, according to their professional profiles.
Kifayatullah Khan has been appointed adviser on Home and Tribal Affairs. He previously served as inspector general of prisons, chairman of the FATA Tribunal, deputy secretary for Home and Tribal Affairs, and commissioner of Dera Ismail Khan and Mardan.
Tariq Mahmood Pasha, a former chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), will serve as adviser on Finance, Revenue, Excise and Taxation. He has also served as special assistant to the prime minister on revenue, secretary of the Economic Affairs Division and joint secretary at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Amir Javed, a Supreme Court advocate and former advocate general of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been appointed adviser on Law and Parliamentary Affairs. He also previously served as additional attorney general of Pakistan.
Dr Syed Amir Abdullah will oversee education. He previously served as caretaker provincial minister for Industries and Commerce and was a member of the National Counter Terrorism Authority’s expert committee. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the Netherlands.
Lieutenant General (retd) Nigar Johar Khan has been appointed adviser on Health. Pakistan’s first female lieutenant general, she previously served as surgeon general of the Pakistan Army and has experience in hospital emergency preparedness. She also holds a master’s degree in Public Health.
Dr Sarfaraz Ali Shah will serve as adviser on Minerals. His previous roles include adviser on Planning and Development and adviser on Communications and Works. He holds a PhD in Economics from France.
Dr Muhammad Irshad has been named adviser on Industries and Commerce. A former FBR chairman, he is also a member of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s board and holds a PhD in Finance.
Asif Rafiq Afridi, a businessman associated with the construction and development sector, has been appointed adviser on Communications and Works. He previously served as a caretaker provincial minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi will oversee Auqaf and Religious Affairs. He serves as the chief khatib of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrator of Jamia Ashrafia in Peshawar and imam of Mahabat Khan Mosque.
Former senator Usman Saifullah Khan has been appointed adviser on Energy, Power, Planning and Development. His previous positions include membership of the Board of Governors of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, the Board of Management of Pakistan State Oil and the chairmanship of APTMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Samar Haroon Bilour will serve as adviser on Information and Broadcasting. She is a member of the National Assembly and previously served in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, where she chaired its Standing Committee on Information and Public Relations.
