Sindh Assembly witnessed sharp criticism on Monday as Opposition Leader Ali Khurshidi lambasted the provincial government for its alleged failure to address rising traffic issues and accidents caused by reckless dumper trucks. “Negligence by the traffic police has put citizens’ lives at risk,” Khurshidi stated during the assembly session, highlighting that over 40 lives were lost in traffic accidents in January alone. The opposition leader criticized the absence of DIG Traffic in addressing this critical issue and alleged that corrupt practices, including the appointment of Station Officers (SOs) through bribery, are exacerbating the situation. “The people of Karachi are dying because of uncovered manholes and dumper truck collisions, and the Sindh government remains a silent spectator,” Khurshidi remarked. He further accused the government of failing to rein in dumper trucks, which he said are causing chaos and fatalities on city roads. Despite the harsh criticism, Khurshidi extended an olive branch, offering the opposition’s support to resolve the traffic crisis. “If the Sindh government requires our assistance to tackle this issue, we are ready to help,” he said.
