LONDON – Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has announced to release a whitepaper on the corruption and anti-state activities of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its founding chairman.
In a video message from London on Monday (today), he said 25 culprits of the May 9th incidents have been convicted, and cases of others involved in this heinous crime will also be adjudicated soon.
The Minister said a charged and trained crowd, on the behest of certain elements, orchestrated the unfortunate incidents of May 9th in an organized manner in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said challenging national defense for vested political interests is a matter of grave concern for the nation. He added that Pakistan is passing through a watershed moment in its history by purging the country’s politics of such elements.
Khawaja Asif further said corruption was at its peak during the reign of PTI, and its founder doled out billions of rupees as well. He said 190 million pounds were landed in the bank account of property tycoon Malik Riaz instead of the Supreme Court on the behest of PTI’s founding chairman.
He expressed his commitment that the nation will not let the events of May 9th be repeated in the country.
