KE has lauded the exceptional contributions of women within its ranks, recognizing their pivotal role in advancing the company in a predominantly male-dominated energy sector. In response to recent disparaging remarks made by Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Muhammad Iqbal Khan Afridi about a female KE official during a Standing Committee on Power meeting, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, CEO of E-Electric, took to social media to address the issue. Alvi emphasized that such remarks are misaligned with both the expected conduct of elected officials and the values upheld by KE.

Alvi stated, “As an equitable and supportive employer, KE is dedicated to challenging bias and opposing all forms of discrimination and harassment. We are committed to fostering a workplace where every individual is valued and respected.” The derogatory comments by Afridi were made during a briefing by KE on power generation and load-shedding.

Notably, there was a consensus among other standing committee members that the woman’s attire was deemed appropriate and respectful. Following Afridi’s remarks, there has been considerable public backlash, with many criticizing the MNA for diverting attention from pressing national issues and contributing to the country’s disrepute.
