A delegation from the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), led by President Junaid Naqi and Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya, met with Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi to discuss key issues faced by industrialists and to promote cooperation for the city’s development.

The meeting included Senior Vice President Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh, Vice President Syed Tariq Hussain, and former presidents Johar Kandhari, Sheikh Umar Raihan, and Danish Khan.

During the meeting, President Junaid Naqi thanked the Karachi Commissioner and emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration between the government and the business community.

He stated that the meeting reflects a joint commitment to improving governance and infrastructure in Karachi.

Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi assured the delegation that immediate action would be taken on the issues raised and emphasized the need for better communication between municipal agencies and the industrial sector.

Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya urged the reactivation of an old committee under the Commissioner’s office to facilitate better coordination on industrial matters.

The meeting also addressed the complaints of KATI members and proposed enhancing the process for submitting regular complaints to the Commissioner’s office and district commissioner representatives.

Additionally, discussions were held on the administrative jurisdictional disputes between the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Town Municipal Corporations (DMCs), stressing the need to clarify scopes to avoid operational issues.

The representatives emphasized the need to maintain focus on ongoing infrastructure projects to support industrial activities, including the ongoing patchwork project between Singer Chowrangi and Shah Faisal, and the Getz Roundabout.

Furthermore, significant city projects such as the Malir Expressway, new developments on Jam Sadiq Bridge, and Qayyumabad Causeway were discussed.

The meeting also included detailed discussions on issues related to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), directives for the release of KITE funds for infrastructure improvements, and the implementation of infrastructure cess.
