Leader of the opposition in Karachi’s city council Saifuddin Advocate, stated that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lacks the capability and commitment to address the city’s long-standing problems, indicating that Karachi’s issues might remain unresolved for another century under PPP’s leadership.
Saifuddin, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), made these remarks while meeting with city council members in his chamber. He highlighted Karachi’s escalating civic issues, citing daily reports of over 200 dog bite cases in hospitals and noting that 12 people have died from such incidents over the past ten months.
He also referenced Karachi’s ranking as the second-most polluted city globally, attributing these issues to administrative neglect. Saifuddin expressed concern over Mayor Murtaza Wahab’s appointment, which he attributed to “invisible forces,” asserting that Wahab’s leadership undermines Karachiites’ right to elect their representatives.
Leader of the opposition in Karachi’s city council Saifuddin Advocate criticized Wahab for allegedly allowing corrupt officials to mismanage city resources and accused the local government minister of being complicit in Karachi’s political decline, focusing primarily on advancing the interests of favored individuals.
The opposition leader also remarked on the poor conditions within a town under the supervision of the minister’s brother, describing it as emblematic of Karachi’s broader challenges. Saifuddin emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami will not merely observe in silence.
