KARACHI – The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued the weather forecast for Tuesday, 05 May 2026, with Karachi expected to experience extreme and sweltering conditions.
The Met Office forecast stated that maximum temperature is expected to soar to 43°C during the day, advising residents to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities.
Other major cities across the country will also face warm conditions, with Hyderabad topping the thermometer at 45°C.
Lahore and Multan are likely to see highs of 36°C and 37°C respectively, while Islamabad and Muzaffarabad will remain slightly milder with maximums of 35°C.
Quetta and Gilgit are expected to stay cooler, peaking at 31°C and 25°C. Residents are advised to take precautions against the heat, especially in southern and central regions.
Hottest Day of the Year
A day earlier, Karachi experienced extreme, sweltering conditions with temperatures surging past 44°C, marking it as the hottest day of the year.
Rescue sources confirmed that eight people have died across the city, with at least two fatalities directly linked to heatstroke. One man was found unconscious near Jamali Bridge and could not be revived despite being rushed to the hospital.
Additional bodies were recovered from areas including Boat Basin, Liaquatabad Bridge, Sirjani Town, DHA Phase 8, and various locations in Baldia. Among the deceased was a laborer, while some victims have yet to be identified.
Meanwhile, two people near Lake Park were found unconscious and were immediately taken to Jinnah Hospital for medical attention.
Meteorologists warned that low humidity combined with scorching winds is worsening the dangerous conditions across the city.
