Karachi Water Supply at Risk Amid Dhabeji Power Outage

A major power outage at Karachi’s Dhabeji Pumping Station has knocked out 10 of its 21 pumps, affecting the port city’s water supply.

According to a Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) spokesperson, K-Electric reported that a cable fault caused the outage, disrupting power to the Third Phase, Fourth Phase and K-III pump houses.

The spokesperson said the breakdown could reduce water supplies to Karachi from Dhabeji. KWSC officials are coordinating with K-Electric to restore electricity at the earliest.

The 10 affected pumps will be restarted immediately after power is restored, with further measures to normalise water supply.

Citizens have been advised to conserve water and avoid unnecessary consumption until the issue is resolved.
