Karachi sizzles at 42°C as heatwave persists in Sindh

KARACHI – Heatwave will likely persist in Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh on Thursday and Friday. Gusty/dust-raising winds are predicted during the afternoon.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave persists over upper parts of the country.

Under these conditions, heatwaves will likely prevail in the port city, Hyderabad and most districts of Sindh during the next two days. Gusty/dust-raising winds are possible during the afternoon which may provide some relief to the heat-stricken people.

Karachi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 37-39°C on Thursday and 36-38°C on Friday.

Hyderabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 45-47°C on Thursday and 44-46°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in Karachi, Hyderabad and most parts of Sindh during the last 24 hours.

Jacobabad and Dadu remained the hottest places in Sindh where the maximum temperature was recorded at 51°C. Maximum temperature in Khairpur, Larkana and Mohenjo-Daro was recorded at 50°C, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Rohri at 49°C, Padidan and Hyderabad at 48°C.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 37 per cent.
