The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pakistan Office and KOICA Alumni Association of Pakistan (KAAP) held 2019 General Meeting here on Friday.
More than 1,200 KAAP and 50 Global Korea scholarship (GKS) alumni working in different Ministries and departments are serving as a bridge for the friendship between Korea and Pakistan.
Today, 260 KOICA alumni members participated in this meeting and shared valuable experiences and knowledge of KOICA Fellowship Training. Mr. Sheraz Nadeem, Assistant Director in Local Government and Rural Development gave a presentation on the successful implementation of a solid waste management system in Gilgit- Baltistan. With the lessons learned in Korea, He established the waste management company in GB and introduced door-to-door garbage collection system and installed waste bins & transfer stations.
He even changed the waste transportation system to prevent the littering during transportation and started to monitor the process.
Umar Farooq, Director General in Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) also shared what CCP achieved after the training in Korea.
Both presenters underlined that the experiences in Korea were inspiring and helpful for them to develop Pakistani society. To celebrate today’s event, students from martial arts school showed the Taekwondo performance and Sun Shine Girls who won the first place in the K-pop Festival dance competition category performed the dance with K-pop.
