K-Electric (KE) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have intensified efforts to combat power theft in Karachi and its adjacent areas, spanning Sindh and Balochistan. In a series of coordinated operations conducted since March 2024, multiple areas have been targeted resulting in six FIRs filed against offenders and significant fines imposed.

These joint efforts have led to the apprehension of individuals involved in power theft, with a total fine of PKR 44.33 million imposed as part of governance enforcement measures. Collaboration with FIA Balochistan has extended the operations to areas like Hub, focusing on various residential and commercial premises to ensure compliance and accountability. KE’s ongoing anti-theft initiatives, including regular kunda removal drives and raids, have resulted in the removal of illegal connections and seizure of illicit equipment. The company has registered over 994 FIRs against offenders in Karachi, with more than 100,000 cases identified since the national campaign against power theft began in September 2023. Despite challenges in some areas, KE emphasizes its commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply to 71% of its feeders’ network.
