Juvenile Justice Committees lacking rules of business

Juvenile Justice Committees under Juvenile Act 2018 lacking rules of business and it committees are also non-functional in almost all the provinces including Gilgit Baltistan.

The said Act also restrained the male police officers to apprehend and investigate female juvenile. Female juvenile shall only be kept in a Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre established or certified exclusively for female inmates.

This was the crux of the one day seminar on “Juvenile Justice” at District Bar room Abbottabad here on Thursday. The seminar as organized by Lahore Based Civil Society Organization namely Sanjog with the collaboration of District Bar Association Abbottabad.

More than 50 lawyers’ social activists and journalists participated one day awareness session on Juvenile. Senior Lawyer Malik Saeed Akhtar Advocate was a focal person who successfully manages the seminar.

CEO Sanjog Hafiza Tayyaba Javed, Former District & Session Judge Naveed Khan, Human Rights Consultant Waheed Ahmad Chaudry, Senior Probation Officer Muhammad Amir, & Secretary District Bar Abbottabad Amjad Satti in their presentations on Juvenile Justice System 2018 prevailing in the Country.
