Jumada al-Awwal Moon Sighted in Pakistan; Islamic month to begin on Oct 24

Jumada Al Awwal Moon Sighted In Pakistan Islamic Month To Begin On Oct 24

ISLAMABAD – The moon for Jumada al-Awwal 1447 AH has been sighted in Pakistan and fifth Islamic month will start from October 24, 2025.

The announcement was made by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, after meeting of committee held on Thursday evening.

The session reviewed reports from various parts of the country regarding the moon sighting before confirming the start of the new Islamic month.

The sighting marks the beginning of the fifth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, observed by Muslims around the world for religious and cultural significance.

The name “Jumada” means dry or parched, because the land in Arabia used to be very dry at that time. “Al-Awwal” means first, so it’s called first Jumada to tell it apart from the second Jumada, which comes later.

Even though Jumada al-Awwal is not one of the four sacred Islamic months, it is still important in Islamic history. Many important events happened during this month, like battles, migrations, and the births or deaths of important Islamic figures.

Muslims use this month to remember Islamic history, read the Qur’an, pray, and do good deeds. People are also encouraged to fast on Mondays and Thursdays, as the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to do.
