Azadi March of JUI-F has entered Islamabad on 5th day of its start where local leadership of PML-N and PPP welcomed the marchers.
Azadi March starting from Karachi travelled 1450 Km in 5 days to finally reach federal capital. The central rally under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman had started its journey from Karachi on Sunday.
The march travelling from Hyderabad, Matiari, Nawabshah, Noshehroferoz and Khairpur reached Sukkur for night stay. On Monday morning the march started its journey for Multan via Ghotki, Rahim Yar Khan and Uch Sharif.
On Tuesday the marchers moved towards Lahore via Khanewal, Mian Channu, Chicha Watnai, Sahiwal, Okara and Patoki. Passing night in Lahore the marchers moved towards their final destination in federal capital via Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jehlum and Gujar Khan.
JUI-F leadership remained in the container where consultations were being made.
Earlier, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman rejected the news regarding postponement of Azadi March and said all caravans are on their way to federal capital.
Talking to media, he said the protest against government includes a public rally and a sit in. He said all convoys of Azadi March would reach their destination as per plan.
He further said that there would be addresses on Friday as the marchers have reached their final destination.
After Maulana Fazal senior leader of JUI-F Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri while addressing a press conference firmly rejected the news that rally has been postponed. He said containers cannot stop us from marching towards Islamabad.
Opposition leaders will address a planned rally in connection with the ‘Azadi March’ after Friday prayers tomorrow, a spokesperson for JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and party leader Akram Khan Durrani say. Durrani, meanwhile, said the decision to hold the opposition jalsa tomorrow after Friday prayers was taken after consultation with the Rehbar Committee.
He said there has been no change in the timetable for the arrival of caravans and cautioned the public against falling victim to “rumour mills”.
Earlier, the ruling and the opposition parties reached an agreement to let the anti-government march progress as planned, as long as they protesters do not cross the sensitive “red zone” in Islamabad. The JUI-F Azadi March caravan reached Gujar Khan on Thursday morning, from where it made its way to the federal capital.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto addressing the participants of Azadi March at Peshawar Morr said the objective of the Azadi March was to try to get Prime Minister Imran to resign and bring in a new government in its place.
Bilawal Bhutto said that Maulana Fazl’s march had shaken the government.
The march has succeeded in its first phase,” he said. Earlier ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan addresses participants of the march. Wali says that the jalsa program was set by the Rahbar Committee.
“The Rahbar Committee set October 31 as the date for the jalsa,” he said.
Wali said that he had spoken to Rahbar Committee Convener Akram Durrani on the phone before he left for Islamabad.
