The Enrolment Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council on Saturday restored the practice licence of former Islamabad High Court judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui with immediate effect, three years after his removal as a judge from the high court.
In a statement, the bar council said that its committee on enrolment met on Nov 24 in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Supreme Court judge Qazi Faez Isa.
According to the statement, the licence of Siddiqui was suspended in November 2011 after his elevation to the high court, but in Nov 2018, he was sacked from the office by the president of Pakistan over his allegations against the premier spy agency of the country.
His appeal against the order, however, is pending adjudication, the statement said, adding that in the meantime, Siddiqui has reached the age of superannuation.
