MELBOURNE – Ahead of the T20 series against Pakistan, Cricket Australia has appointed Josh Inglis as the captain of the white-ball team by replacing Pat Cummins.
Australian wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will lead the white-ball team for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Pakistan, and notably, he will also captain the team in the final ODI.
Several senior players, including Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, will miss the final ODI against Pakistan as they prepare for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.
Due to the unavailability of vice-captain Mitchell Marsh and Pat Cummins’ involvement in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Josh Inglis has been appointed as the white-ball captain.
Inglis has prior experience leading in domestic cricket.
Chief Selector George Bailey announced the captaincy, stating that Josh Inglis is an integral part of the ODI and T20 squads and has captaincy experience with Australia A and in domestic cricket.
In the absence of senior players, fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Spencer Johnson have been added to the team alongside wicketkeeper-batter Josh Philippe.
