He was renowned for returning fees if he felt unsatisfactory service was provided or if the client couldn’t afford it, showcasing his commitment to fairness and justice. Once, Jinnah declined the title of “Sir” offered by the British, rejecting the notion of superiority over others, and emphasizing equality. He also refused significant donations for his political cause, prioritizing principles over monetary gain, and displaying unwavering ethical fortitude. His faith in the creation of Pakistan remained steadfast despite immense opposition. This conviction inspired millions and eventually led to the establishment of Pakistan. Once in a cabinet meeting, when his ADC asked the menu, he forbade it and said ministers should have taken breakfast before starting the meeting.
During the 1940s in Bombay (now Mumbai), he fell seriously ill with pneumonia. Miss Emily Harkness, a British nurse, cared for him devotedly. Despite his role in Pakistan’s creation, Jinnah showed immense gratitude, honoring her dedication with a gift and a letter, showcasing his respect for humanity beyond nationality.
