In response to the ongoing concern over monkeypox (Mpox), Jinnah International Airport has significantly upgraded its preventive measures. The Border Health Services (BHS) team at the airport has been expanded, with two doctors now stationed at the airport around the clock, up from one previously. Additionally, the medical assistant team has increased from five to ten members. In August, Jinnah International Airport screened a total of 146,722 travelers.

During this period, only one traveler displaying symptoms was sent to the hospital on August 31 for further evaluation. To enhance safety, the airport has implemented rigorous disinfection protocols, cleaning the immigration and international lounge areas two to three times daily after each international flight.

The airport has also established two additional cabins dedicated to the examination and quarantine of travelers who might be infected. To further inform travelers, informational standees have been placed along the international arrival walkway. Additionally, the airport’s management is supporting the BHS team in conducting enhanced awareness sessions at the Resource Center of Jinnah International Airport.
