The funeral prayer for Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the Palestinian organization Hamas, was held in absentia at New M.A. Jinnah Road under the auspices of Jamaat-e-Islami. The prayer was led by the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh, Muhammad HussainMehnti.

Thousands of participants attended the ceremony, expressing deep respect and solidarity. Muhammad HussainMehnti and the Secretary of Karachi, TaufeequddinSiddiqui, along with Karachi Amir MunemZafar Khan, addressed the attendees. MunemZafar Khan announced that a similar funeral prayer will be held citywide on Friday, August 2. He urged Muslim rulers to stand with the people of Gaza and Palestine, and to take concrete actions against Israel.

Participants showed immense enthusiasm, chanting slogans such as “Allahu Akbar,” “Revolution, Islamic Revolution,” and “Martyrdom is a blessing.” They carried banners with pictures of Ismail Haniya and Palestinian flags.

The sit-in protest planned at the Governor House against expensive electricity and unjust tax measures has been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon. Muhammad HussainMehnti emphasized that today is both a day of martyrdom and determination. He called for a unified stance from Muslim rulers and armies to support Gaza and Palestine and to take decisive actions against Israel. MunemZafar Khan asserted that Ismail Haniya’s martyrdom represents not just an individual loss but the ongoing struggle of the entire Islamic movement.
