Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Monem Zafar Khan has called on the authorities to declare all polling stations as “very sensitive” and deploy Rangers at each one to prevent rigging during the upcoming by-elections on (Today) November 14. Addressing a press conference at Idara Noor-e-Haq, the JI headquarters, Zafar expressed concerns over pre-poll rigging, accusing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government in Sindh of manipulating the election process.

Zafar pointed out that out of 166 polling stations, 136 were declared as sensitive, while 26 were categorized as very sensitive, but he argued that all should be treated with equal caution due to the highly charged political atmosphere. He highlighted the controversial transfer of 2,080 votes in Liaquatabad, claiming that voters had no ties to the area, a clear violation of the Elections Act 2017. The JI leader also raised concerns over the establishment of polling stations far from local communities, further complicating voter access.

Zafar accused the PPP of appointing ghost staffers, citing the appointment of clerical staff from DMC Korangi as polling staff in Model Town. Zafar criticized the PPP for its corruption, citing the poor quality of road repairs in Karachi, particularly in Liaquatabad, and the ineffectiveness of funds allocated for roadwork.

He also condemned the ongoing water crisis and the flourishing tanker mafia under the PPP government, urging Karachiites to reject traditional politicians and vote for JI’s “scale” symbol, representing progress and development.

He urged voters to come out in large numbers to support JI, emphasizing the party’s legacy of service in the city, including the restoration of parks, schools, playgrounds, and the installation of streetlights.
