Residents of Gulistan-i-Jauhar Block-8 took to the streets in protest against lack of development works in their area, particularly against dilapidated condition of a major link road.
Carrying banners, they staged a protest demonstration in their area the other day, demanding the municipal and provincial authorities take immediate steps for addressing civic problems of the locality.
Residents said the dual road linking Block-8 to Malir Cantt was in bad shape and after the recent rains, it had become almost impassable due to emergence of massive potholes.
They said schoolchildren were the worst hit as their van drivers normally refused to pick them from the area due to bad condition of roads.
Clifton police on Tuesday arrested a contractor over charges of throwing debris at an open place as recently the provincial government has imposed a ban on such acts under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.—APP
